Rome, information about the way to and from the airport

Very few cities have as many places of interest as Rome. Here you’ll find ruins from the Roman Empire, antique frescoes, renaissance fountains and picturesque squares. The Vatican, the Coliseum, and the Pantheon….there’s a lot discover. Rich in history and cultural treasures, this grandiose city is also home to countless trattorie, motorbikes and Italian joie de vivre. Tip: the most “Roman” part of the city is Pigneto. Car:

The airport is 32km from central Rome. The ring road (G.R.A.) leads to the A12 (motorway) and then directly to Fiumicino. Then follow signs for the airport.

Rail:

There are hourly express trains to Termini station. Click here for the Leonardo Express timetable.

There is a slower train (to Orte or Fara Sabina), which goes every 20 minutes and stops at several stations on its way to Tiburtina station in the city centre.

Taxi:

There are always taxis available to the city centre. Make sure the driver has a licence and uses a taximeter. Journey time to central Rome is around 45 minutes.

Hire cars:

There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Reserve a car here and get great bargains.

Named after the incomparable Leonardo da Vinci, Rome Airport has two terminals. Terminal B is for international and domestic flights and Terminal C is for international flights only. Both terminals have tourist information desks.

Parking:

The multi-storey car parks (A-D) are connected to the terminals by passenger walkways. There is also a free shuttle bus that connects the long-term car park, near the Rome-Fiumicino motorway, with the terminals. It runs every 15 minutes between 20:00 and 07:00.
